Boylan Heights feeds the Ellen Wright Women's Center (formerly the Ark Shelter) breakfast on the 3rd Sunday of each month. Two families/groups are involved. Each family/group can be two or three people. The main family purchases the necessary food for approximately 40 people. Both families arrive at 7:30 (or earlier if you need more time) to prepare the food and serve it. You want to start serving at 8:00. There are cooking and serving supplies although some people prefer bringing their own. There are no sharp knives!

Once the food is served you are finished and can leave. This process takes about 1-1/2 hours. The second family becomes the first family and purchases the food the following month. A new family joins them to help and the new family becomes the main family the month after and so on.

Typical menus include but are not limited to: Scrambled eggs, sausage or bacon, grits or home fries, toast or muffins, maybe fruit-perhaps fruit cocktail or cut up and juice. The shelter does have coffee. Pancakes are another option, even quiches or some sort of egg casserole that you make before hand would be good -- you can be creative.

This is a small time and money commitment and can be very rewarding.
