- TTA Workshop update
Several Boylan residents attended the TTA local workshop, held on 10/23. The information presented was basically the same as in our meetings with TTA this spring, although they did have a computer simulation of what the Boylan Avenue station might look like (this may be posted on the neighborhood web site). The Draft Enviornmental Impact Statement will be released this winter and public hearings will be held in the spring. Officially, TTA has not made a decision about the downtown station location.- Neighborhood Watch Still looking for block captains.
Block Captains are responsible for keeping in contact with neighbors, reporting crimes to the NW Chair, working to increase awareness of crime prevention strategies, and attending meetings/training sessions. Contact Ken Babb if you are interested in helping (838-1420) Neighborhood Watch signs will be available shortly through the Boylan Heights Association. Lisa Tolley contacted Dan Becker, who designed a new (more historically appropriate) sign for the neighborhood entrance. He is checking on the status of this sign and we will have more information by the November meeting.- Composting Bins for Sale
Wake Co. Solid Waste has composting bins for sale. The price is $30.00. Details at: www.co.wake.nc.us/solwaste.- Raleigh Rugby Club Sells Christmas Trees
The Raleigh Rugby Club will once again sell Christmas trees and wreaths. Orders will need to be in by late November. More information coming via e-mail.- Ideas for Future Meetings
We discussed ideas for future meetings. These include demolition by neglect priorities list, preservation workshops, and information on restoration tax credits.
THE NEXT MEETING WILL BE NOVEMBER 28 AT 7:00 IN THE PROJECT ENLIGHTENMENT BUILDING. OUR SPEAKER WILL DISCUSS CRIME PREVENTION STRATEGIES FOR THE HOLIDAYS AND THE NEIGHBORHOOD WATCH PROGRAM.
